Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from a Tea Party booking with you?
Delicious cakes and wonderful memories! We always go the extra mile with our bookings to make each and every occasion as special as can be. We bring everything needed from fresh flowers (which we hand pick in the Summer months) through to crisp napkins and silver cake forks. Vintage music plays in the background either from our gramophone or from our lovingly refurbished 1950s Bush radio and reels of bunting decorate the room. Delicious cakes and savouries sit on our pretty vintage china and there's even the option to add waitresses dressed in vintage dress to your Tea Party - so the only thing you'd need to do is decide what to eat! We can also theme the decor of your Tea Party too - whether you fancy a 1920s or 1940s tea or a whimsical Mad Hatter's Tea Party - we can work to the theme of your choosing.
If you're booking a Mad Hatter's Tea Party with us at a venue of your choosing or at either Wonderland House or Looking Glass Cottage, Brighton our set up differs to includes lots of whimsical Alice in Wonderland details.
What's the difference between your Classic & Deluxe Tea Party Menus?
Our Classic Menu includes our homemade cakes, scones and dainty sandwiches as well as our tea selection and cordial - all the delights that you would expect from an afternoon tea. Our Deluxe Menu includes all of this as well as additional sandwiches, cupcakes and seasonal fresh fruit. With our Deluxe Menu you also get a choice of cold refreshments for your group including a selection of Fentimans beverages. Whatever Menu you decide on - you can rest assured that nobody ever goes hungry at one of our Tea Parties!
Do your Tea Parties include any alcohol options?
We don't currently supply alcohol for our Tea Parties but you're more than welcome to bring your own. You'll need to supply your own glasses for this and we can recommend where to get free glass hire if needed. Or why not use our teacups for your tipple - we won't tell!
I don't know where to have my event - do you have use of a venue for bookings?
Yes - our beautiful Vintage Tearooms in Uckfield, East Sussex (40 minutes outside of Brighton) are available for private bookings - subject to group size. You can book your Tea Party at our Tearooms by getting in touch here. Alternatively we are happy to offer recommendations of halls and venues we have hosted events at before - just ask!
Do we have to be good bakers to book your Bake Off Tea Party?
Not at all - our Rose & Olive Bake Off Tea Party - inspired by The Great British Bake Off - is for all abilities, so no worries if your baking skills are a little rusty! Our qualified Chef is on hand to guide you through the baking competition - with the emphasis being very much on having fun.
Are your cakes and savouries homemade?
Oh yes - you simply cannot beat a delicious homemade cake! Our menus are prepared by our qualified Chef using the freshest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible.
Can you cater for different dietary needs?
We can wherever possible cater for dietary needs with sufficient notice given. We cannot however guarantee that our food is nut free - nut traces may be present.
Can we add extras to our Tea Party menu?
Of course! For a small additional amount per person we can add things like homemade sausage rolls with thyme, homemade quiches and even a retro style sweet selection if you so wish!
What numbers can your Tea Parties cater for?
We've a minimum number of 10 for all of our bookings, with the exception of bookings at Wonderland House and Looking Glass Cottage where our minimum number is 8. For our regular Tea Party set ups we have a maximum of 40 guests. Groups larger than 40 in number would be classed as a Large Function.
I've less than 10 in my group can I still book with you?
Yes - provided you are happy to pay for our minimum number then we can happily cater for you!
What options are there for a Large Function?
There are two options for you if your group size is 40 or more. You can book our pop up tearoom style set up - we'll bring all the food, vintage china, table covers and room decor and transform your venue into a nostalgic tearoom atmosphere - from just £9 per person. This option is perfect for corporate events, press launches and for private functions such as a wake where you want a relaxed, informal atmosphere with plenty of vintage charm. Alternatively we can serve your afternoon teas at your tables by waitresses in vintage dress - see our Large Functions page for more details.
Can your Tea Parties cater for children?
Yes - we've catered for children's Tea Parties before and can happily tailor a Tea Party to suit you. Just get in touch with what you'd like.
For your mobile bookings do you supply tables and chairs?
We don't supply our own tables and chairs. We tend to use tables and chairs already at venues or those supplied by you.
Where can you set up your Tea Parties and Pop Up Tearoom?
We can set up pretty much anywhere - previous venues have included village halls, private homes, holiday accommodation, function rooms, TV studios, care homes, marquees and even a hut! All we ask is that we have access to fresh running water and hand washing facilities. We also require use of a fridge - for venues that don't have one we do have our own 17L table top fridge which we can bring.
What can I expect from a Supper Club booking with you?
Our qualified Chef will cook a delicious Tapas or three course meal, in the comfort of your home or venue, using fresh seasonal ingredients. We take care of the set up and clear down - including the all important washing up! There's even background vintage music playing from either our gramophone or from our lovingly refurbished 1950s Bush radio.
Our Supper Clubs capture the vintage nostalgia of our Tea Parties but are tailored for a wonderful evening dining experience! For our Supper Clubs we do require the use of an oven and suitable kitchen facilities.
What areas do you cover?
Our Tea Parties, Pop Up Tearooms and Supper Clubs mainly cover Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex and London but we've also taken our scrummy cakes and teas further afield including St Albans, Cheltenham and even Manchester - so feel free to ask if we can travel to you!
Are your travel costs included in the price?
We like to make things easy so our Tea Party, Pop Up Tearoom and Supper Club prices include our travel costs to bookings held in London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex or Essex. If your booking is outside of those areas, then additional travel costs may apply.
Do you have public liability insurance and food hygiene certificates?
A resounding yes! We have public liability insurance with £5 million cover and have completed the necessary certified food hygiene course. We are registered as a food business with Wealden District Council and have the highest food hygiene score available of 5.
How far in advance can I book with you?
As far in advance as you like! Summer months especially are when we are at our busiest and so it's best to secure your date as soon as you can. We currently have bookings in our diary into 2019! If you've left it a little late or your booking is one of an unexpected nature such as a wake - please feel free to check availability with us - there are times when we can fit in last minute bookings.
How do I book with you?
Contact us to check availability. Once that's known and you want to proceed we'll pop you a booking invoice with full payment details. A 50% deposit is required to secure the date with the remaining balance due either four weeks before the date for larger bookings or two weeks before the date for our regular Tea Parties.
If your booking is last minute - with two weeks or less to the date - then full payment is required to both secure and complete the booking.
How can I pay for my booking?
You can pay for your booking either via bank transfer or via PayPal where you can use your credit/debit card - our invoice contains details for both.
Can you pencil dates in?
A deposit is the only way to secure a date - due to demand we are unable to pencil dates in.

Wherever you think people would enjoy cups of tea and scrummy homemade cakes served on vintage china! We've attended a wide variety of public events with our pop up tearoom from arts and crafts fairs to vintage fairs, wildlife festivals to 1940s events!
